Downhill

Downhill or racing Longboards have been prominent with extreme sport lovers since the 50's. With technical advancements and bigger, longer decks sizes introduced and soft urethane wheels plus wider trucks that are perfect for handling higher speeds and greater control. Drop through style longboards are one of the most recognisable designs. Because drop through longboards sit lower to the ground and a lower centre of gravity. Each skater will experience a more stable ride, beginners and people just getting back into skating again will find a drop through downhill board more suitable and easier to ride. Another popular style of longboards are top mount design. Top mount style achieve more grip and stability when racing downhill. Top mount boards give generally better performance when you are blasting down your local hill with the ability to slide into corners and tight bends. Both styles range in length from roughly 38 to 44 Inch in downhill decks. As a general rule, longer deck sizes will feel more stable and easier to ride but will be harder to turn and manoeuvre. For beginner riders, something around 40 Inch is something in between and will have the best of both worlds.
